Join us for a screening and panel discussion of The Commons: 15 Artists 15 Spaces, documenting The City of West Palm Beach’s ArtLife Committee Covid-19 Artists Relief Initiative. A colorful Open Studio and an insightful Artist Tour will be led by artists featured in this project. And a Jazz Friday performance by Charles Goold, hailing from New York City, blending, and juxtaposing traditional Haitian and Afro Caribbean rhythms with hard bop, modern jazz, and hip hop.

Covid-19 Artists Relief Initiative
The City of West Palm Beach’s ArtLife Committee commissioned 15 local artists to create temporary works that bring to light our community’s need to reconnect with one another during the pandemic. The project encouraged artists to reimagine our public spaces, reflect and respond on a localized level to a global crisis, while offering the artists monetary relief. One of the 15 artists was asked to create a final short documentary that would play a vital role in producing a shared cultural memory of our pandemic times.
This screening will be followed by a Panel Discussion with artists Ates Isildak, Dana Donaty, and Robert Fehre and moderated by Sybille Welter.
Ates Isildak, is the documentary’s filmmaker. Using short films, music videos, and photography, Ates Isildak aims to create a safe space and medium in which marginalized communities can exuberantly express themselves.
Dana Donaty, panelist, is a Colombian American multidisciplinary artist that explores the convergence of memory, identity, individuality, and influence with an overarching theme of play.
Robert Fehre is an American artist and photographer who works with photography, painting, drawing, and sculpture. He is known for his colorful photographs which are an expression of love for the environment, focusing primarily on coastal cities such as Miami and Los Angeles.
Sybille Welter is the Administrator of Public Art and Culture for the City of West Palm Beach and facilitates the ArtLife program, which commissions artists in all stages of their careers to create permanent and temporary artworks throughout the city’s public spaces.

Trina Slade-Burks (Trina Slade) '86 is an artist, curator, author, and art educator for ATB Fine Art Group Inc. for 29 years. Along with her husband Anthony Burks Sr., they have provided substantial art business for not only themselves but for hundreds of artists from South Florida for close to three decades.
In 2018, Trina founded the No More Starving Artists Foundation, a 501(c) 3 that's mission is to help primarily Palm Beach Community artists be sustainable personally and professionally by providing opportunities and services. The mission is to establish a legacy for young and professional artists in the community.

The Powerful Me Project
The Powerful Me Is based on the poem written for my students 11 years ago for my book What is My Priority? With this poem, it was an anthem For my students to declare themselves powerful individuals. Funded by the city of West Palm Beach is art in public places, the public art project the Commons awarded me and 14 other artist in Palm Beach County the opportunity to execute public arts during Covid time.
This project is to allow people to answer the open ended questions by challenging people around the country on #snapchat #tiktok & #instagram .
